I agree that the best way for marketers to target the affluent in this economy is to go after the "rarefied" set or the crowd that's "buying down."

When it comes to the Social Media Savvy, you'd be surprised who you'd find on facebook, myspace and youtube. It's not just those who make $30,000. According to the Luxury Institute, "nearly two-thirds of individuals worth more than $5 million, or earning more than $300,000, belong to at least one of these.”
